Morgan Wallen is an American country music singer and songwriter. He competed in the sixth season of The Voice as part of Usher‘s team and later became a member of Adam Levine‘s team. He signed with Panacea Records after being eliminated in the series and released his debut EP, Stand Alone (2015). His debut single, “Spin You Around”, was also released with Panacea Records and became certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. In 2016, Morgan Wallen signed with Big Loud Records to release his debut album If I Know Me (2018). The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums charts.
In 2020, Morgan Wallen was caught in the middle of the COVID-19 controversy when a video surfaced showing him bypassing protocols. The result led to an arrested after being removed from Kid Rock’s steakhouse in Nashville and temporary suspensions from his record label. Several major radio networks also removed his music from their playlists.
Wallen’s journey got an early boost when he teamed up with Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line for the hit single “Up Down,” which became a chart-topping success and his first taste of nationwide fame. The track’s popularity led to collaborations with other prominent figures in the industry, such as Diplo on “Heartless,” a song that beautifully melded Wallen’s country roots with Diplo’s electronic beats, showcasing Wallen’s versatility as an artist. His collaboration with Jason Isbell on “Cover Me Up” was another milestone, earning widespread critical acclaim and introducing Wallen to a broader audience. His work with award-winning producer Joey Moi, known for his work with Chad Kroeger of Nickelback and Jake Owen, helped shape Wallen’s distinctive sound, and their collaboration on the album “Dangerous: The Double Album” resulted in Wallen’s first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Eric Church, a fellow country star and a major influence on Wallen, joined him for the powerful duet “Quittin’ Time,” a testament to their shared appreciation for traditional country music. Lastly, Wallen’s collaboration with Chris Stapleton on “Only Thing That’s Gone” added another layer of depth to his music.
