She is the daughter of professor and author Ted Goossen. Her father is Canadian, of English, German, around one quarter Dutch, and some Scottish and Irish, descent. Her mother is from Hong Kong. Jeananne was raised in Canada and Japan, and speaks fluent Japanese.

Jeananne’s paternal grandfather was Eugene Coons Goossen (the son of Arthur Benjamin Goossen and Caroline/Carolyn “Carrie” E. Coons). Eugene was born in New York. Arthur was born in New York, the son of Abraham Johannes Goossen, who was Dutch, and of Alice Klise/Kleis, whose parents were also Dutch. Caroline was born in New York, the daughter of Eugene Hull Coons and Jennie L. Selmser.

Jeananne’s paternal grandmother was Jean Griffin (the daughter of Robert Allen Griffin and Phyllis Hayes). Jean was born in New York. Robert was born in Missouri, to parents from England and Germany, respectively, William Griffin and Fannie W. Schwartz/Black. Phyllis was born in California, the daughter of Everis Anson Hayes and Mary Louisa Bassett. Everis A. Hayes was a lawyer, newspaper personality, mining businessperson, and Republican Party politician, who served as a U.S. Representative from California, from March 4, 1905 to March 3, 1919. His own mother, Jeananne’s great-great-great-grandmother Mary Hayes-Chynoweth, née Folsom, was a psychic leader, mystic, and founder of the “True Life Church.”
