G贸mez enjoys fresh coconut water, which is delicious and full of nutrients. "Coconut water can be a part of a low calorie or low sugar diet as it is low in calories at 45-60 calories per cup with 11-12g of sugar," says Kacie Vavrek, MS, RD, CSSD. "Coconut water contains plant compounds and electrolytes such as potassium, sodium, magnesium and phosphorus. It should be noted that electrolyte content varies based on the maturity of the coconut, so amounts in coconut water will vary."
G贸mez loves being out in the snow, skiing and riding snowmobiles. "In colder temperatures your heart doesn't have to work as hard, you sweat less, and expend less energy, all of which means you can exercise more efficiently," says Dr. Adam Tenforde, an assistant professor of sports medicine and rehabilitation at Harvard-affiliated Spaulding Rehabilitation Network.
G贸mez likes exploring new places on a bicycle. "Muscle is built from cycling, especially the quadriceps," says Nebraska Methodist Health System. "You are also building and toning the glutes, hamstrings and calves. Biking will give you a full body workout without you even realizing it."
G贸mez loves bonding with animals, getting up close to elephants and camels on her trips. Interacting with animals is proven to have health benefits. "By interacting with companion animals, elderly people can experience positive mental and physical effects," says Michigan State University College Of Veterinary Medicine. "Similar results can occur in children during emotional, cognitive, social, and behavioral development."
G贸mez enjoys taking a dip in the pool. "Swimming uses all the muscles in the body so whether you swim a gentle breaststroke or hammer butterfly, you will get a full body workout," says Swim England. "Plus, exercising in water makes your body work harder so 30 minutes in a pool is worth 45 minutes of the same activity on land."
